I’m Yogisoul: a musicproducer, recordcollector and soundengineer. I’m one of three producers in the Mutual Intentions crew, alongside Fredfades and S.Raw.
I live in Oslo, Norway.
Most days I do music, play basketball, read books and drink good coffee.
I bought my first turntable when I was 12, started buying vinyl at thrift shops, and recorded scratches on my dad’s answering machine. My friends would call and tell me not to answer to hear my new stuff.
My first performance was as a DJ at the local youth club. I had put together a routine and showed the kids what really went into my recordings on my dad’s answering machine.
I’m satisfied as long as I stay inspired to continue exploring music. I recently put out a 14 track album called, By Nights, which features many of my favorite musicians and vocalists, and I’m grateful to be able to make the music that I like with the musicians and vocalists that I want to work with.
Mainly just to catch a vibe; to make them feel something for a few moments.
My main influence is just life itself—to keep doing what I do. Sometimes I feel like the Michael Jordan of beats, other times I’m just grateful to have a passion for something in my life that gives me a sense of meaning. Of course I’m Influenced by other great musicians and producers as well. My main musical influences through the years have been J Dilla, D’Angelo, Bill Evans and Miles Davis.
I usually make music in the a.m. After all, my album is called, By Nights, and definitely reflects that I, at times, feel like a messenger for nightly moods. Other than music, it’s mainly too much coffee or ideas that still haven’t come to life.
Next up is a Mutual Intentions release. It’s been a year since our last release, and we’re looking forward to sharing some new stuff with everyone. I also have an EP with a longtime collaborator, Lumi HD, in the works. Other than that, I plan on just staying in harmony, doing what makes me happy and continuing to find and make great music.
