Who are you?
Jaylon Carter, aka Timid. An emcee, producer, student of life and fly superhero.
Where do you live?
New York, New York.
What do you do?
Emcee and savior of humanity in training.
When did you start?
That’s kind of tough question to answer—I’ve been into hip-hop and music for a long time. When I was younger I used to always write short stories. That interest in writing, coupled with my interest in hip-hop, lead me to start writing lyrics. I also used to be a DJ for a while: doing parties, working at clubs and events. One of the first projects I worked on was DJing for a partner of mine.
How was your first show/performance?
To be honest, I don’t exactly remember my very first performance. I believe it was somewhere in Florida.
What would you like to gain from your work?
Personal independence and growth; and to explore the things that come with that.
What would you like your audience to gain from your work?
To move people to head nod, enjoy themselves and think a bit at the same time.
Who or what are your biggest influences?
I would have to say family, thinkers and scholars. Intelligence and compassion also impress me.
What keeps you up at night?
Beats, video games and thoughts of world domination in order to eliminate this broken system we’re underneath these days.
What’s next?
I plan to keep it moving. I’ve always got ideas for things I’d like to get into. I’ll keep them under wraps until it’s time, though. So for now, check out what I’m currently doing, or what I’ve already done. Thanks.
