Fried Man, aka Jess Friedman.
The R.O.B. (Richmond Ocean Beach), San Francisco, California.
I’m a music producer, musician and artist. I produce a variety of music, mainly in three genres: rock, hip-hop and electronica. I produce hip-hop that’s heavily influenced by electronica, dubstep, drum ‘n’ bass and acid house.
In the year 2000; I was still in high school making beats on Acid 3.0, yo.
Great success for my first show. It was in the fall of 2008 at the Elbo Room with Justus Bends, Dan Millar, Katastrophe and D.A.V.O. I made some decent money that show. Wish I could say the same about the next few I played… [laughs]
I’d like to earn a steady living from making music.
What I’d really like is for my listeners to feel what I feel when I listen to my music… Nothing too serious—I just want people to have fun.
I’m usually inspired to create songs by non-musical influences like cable TV, geography, my environment, walks, the Internet (especially Google Maps), thrift stores and black market culture. But If I had to name a few bands and artists: Wu-Tang Clan, Kool Keith, Nirvana, Radiohead, The Pixies, Dick Dale, The Misfits, The Cramps and Queens of the Stoneage would be the ones.
Cheesy techno music and Russian karaoke.
A full-length album by Justus Bends, produced by yours truly, my full-length album, Untitled Future Sellout, and a few dubstep and electronic music singles. Thanks.
