I’m sometimes called the agitator, the guy who makes you think, or the guy your girlfriend’s always talking about, but you can call me Audio, aka Jay Entendre.
I’m a Los Angeles, California, native (more specifically Long Beach). But I currently reside in Fresno, aka the Grizzly City.
I try to give the general public an alternative to what many believe to be real hip-hop or rock ‘n’ roll. I just do it from the soul, so people pay attention.
I started writing lyrics when I was 9 years old. Back then I used to have this dual cassette boombox, and I would get one of my favorite singles with the instrumental on the back, grab a mic, pop it in and record over the other cassette. My second start with physical instruments was with a friend’s uncle who would play the guitar with us. Ever since then, I’ve been fascinated with playing stringed instruments and the drums.
Basic, but fun. It was a friend’s birthday party. The other acts that night weren’t very serious, so I didn’t look too bad, even though then my music wasn’t as developed as it is now.
Money, fame and girls—syke! [laughs] I wish to gain a higher understanding of myself and the lives of those around me. I feel like an alien sometimes because I can better relate with people through my music. So, really, I plan to build a stronger connection and relationship with my listeners.
Honesty, inspiration and clarity. I find that a lot of artists are either dishonest or uninspired in their work. I want my audience to leave with something to remember and embrace.
My mother, off top, she was a singer, and my grandfather because he dated Barbara Mason (if you don’t know who she is you’re sleeping). My uncle because he was a very popular DJ in L.A. in the 90s, and the people around me because if you guys didn’t exist I probably wouldn’t have anything to talk about. [laughs]
Recording, writing, filming, performing, reading, studying, MySpace [laughing] and this interview.
Check out for a high school/college tour and a record either at the end of this year or the first quarter of next year. I’ve also got new a music video out…so check it out and show some love.
