Who are you?
Amber London: The First Lady of Black Money World and Raider Klan Records.
Where do you live?
I currently live in Houston, Texas. Born and raised.
What do you do?
I’m a rapper.
When did you start?
I started when I was around 12 or 13. Can’t remember exactly, but I loved freestyling… It was fun for me, so I’ve just kept at it.
How was your first show/performance?
My first show as a rapper was at an event called A Night to Remember, and I performed “94 Cool Shit.” It was fun and definitely a learning experience.
What would you like to gain from your work?
Growth as an artist, and to learn from myself and others on how to always improve and stay creative.
What would you like your audience to gain from your work?
To understand the realness/rawness of my art, and to appreciate the music for what it is.
Who or what are your biggest influences?
Hmm, so many I can name them all day… But definitely Houston—the whole culture—DJ Screw, S.U.C., E.S.G., Lil’ Flip, Big Pokey, etc. Definitely female rappers of the 90s: Da Brat, Missy Elliott, Lil’ Kim, Boss, Gangsta Boo, Mia X, MC Lyte, Lauryn Hill, Queen Latifah, Eve, La Chat, Storm (from Outlawz), Left Eye, etc. Other Rappers, like Lil Wayne, inspired me growing up. SpaceGhostPurrp’s also a big influence; just hearing his music has inspired me to create some of the music that I am now.
What keeps you up at night?
Writing music keeps me up at night. But other than that, I be on that loud pack, so I be sleep like a mug… [laughs]
What’s next?
Definitely more visuals and possibly another mixtape dropping late fall.
