Full Circle
Full Circle
Jan 2015
The name’s Still Waters: ½ of Full Circle, emcee, vocalist, lady-killer.
[Laughing] Peace, peace. I go by Bes Kept, the other 180 degrees of Full Circle.
Bes Kept: I’m from Toronto, Canada.
Still Waters: I’m from ‘Sauga (Mississauga), Canada.
SW: I put my thoughts on paper to the drumbeat. Yup, that’s what I do…
BK: Word! Yeah, I produce, DJ—you know—rhyme a li’l bit…
SW: Ok, well, with me, I started taking rhyming seriously when I was about 15. That’s when I realized I could really put words together. You know, back when music made fucking sense… [laughs]
BK: Yup, same here. I started rhyming around 15 and started messing around with beats when I was 16.
BK: It was dope. We’re both old-school heads, and we take our craft seriously, so we know how to get busy on the mic.
SW: Honestly, the show went exactly how I expected it to go. You know, real lyrics for a real crowd. They appreciated that, and we appreciated them.
SW: Success through respect. That and finances…
BK: Word up! I want planes and boats. [laughs] Honestly, we do this because we love the art. So as long as we make dope shit; we’re good with that at the end of the day.
BK: We just want to put the soul back into hip-hop. Good music for good people: simple as that.
SW: Yeah, I want our audience to gain a different perspective through our view of music.
SW: I come from a very musical family, so that definitely has a big influence on what I do.
BK: Pete Rock, Dilla, Madlib, Saukrates, Primo, DJ Son of S.O.U.L., Mr. Attic… Man, too many to mention. We could be at this forever.
Bes Kept: Stress and bills.
SW: Women and pregnancy tests.
BK: Well, we just released our debut album Infinite Edges in both digital and CD formats, but our fans can look forward to a vinyl release of that soon. We have some videos coming, a bunch of shows and, of course, new music, so definitely stay tuned.
SW: Yup, that sums it up. People can always hit us up at our site, all of our info’s there.
