Who are you?

What’s up world, my name’s Pro Dough.

Where do you live?

I’m from Westside Fresno, California.

What do you do?

I’m a hip-hop recording artist and ½ of the group SlapZu.

When did you start?

I started writing rhymes when I was 12 years old, but my first recordings came later with a friend of mine named Mic the Mos. We started out on a low budget karaoke machine. Then, I got real serious when I discovered computer recording programs my freshman year of high school.

How was your first show/performance?

It was at a car show in my old neighborhood at the Hinton Center Park when I was 16 years old. My older cousin ran into Planet Asia, who he knew from elementary school, and I looked up to at the time. He asked him to listen to me kick some bars, and Planet Asia seemed to be impressed.

What would you like to gain from your work?

Respect. When someone that I’ve never met comes up to me and gives me props for my music, it’s dope. Ultimately, I hope to be able to make a living in the music business, but being heard and respected is cool, too.

What would you like your audience to gain from your work?

Entertainment and knowledge. I hope to spread what knowledge I do have through my music. I’m a lyricist, so I’m always looking for a clever or witty way to say something unique. I touch on everything from partying to the harsh realities everyone goes through in life.

Who or what are your biggest influences?

When I first started out, Planet Asia and his group, Skoolyard Massive, were my biggest influences. I started rapping after curiously watching Supa Supreme (Skoolyard member) write and recite a verse at my cousin’s house

What keeps you up at night?

“Gun shots kept me up at night, I still had a dream!” –Me

My thoughts.

What’s next?

I’m currently working on a boatload of songs that I plan to separate into 3- to 4-different projects. The first one that I’ll be releasing’s called The Greatest Show On Turf, which will be a collection of 12- to 14-songs featuring all original material that’ll be distributed for free online and in the streets. I’m working with a local brand called Mighty Grand who sponsors me, and helps with marketing and promoting my music. Also, one of those 3- to 4-projects is going to be the new SlapZu.
