My name’s Jon Clapp, and although I have a Canadian last name, I haven’t an ounce of Canadian blood coursing through my veins. My great-grandfather Pitapit was an Igorot, and the chief of his headhunting village. He allowed Canadian missionaries into his village and gained the love and respect of father Clapp. Pitapit passed away, and father Clapp adopted his son, Brent Clapp (my grandfather), and took him to the United States where he bore three children: Douglass, Debbie, and Edward (Edward being my father). Edward married his high school sweetheart Caroline, and out popped me, Jon Clapp.
I was born and raised in Fresno, California, and moved to San Francisco 8 years ago. Been here ever since.
I play the guitar and write songs to it. I have a practical background in Logics and Final Cut Pro.
I started making music in the 6th grade using a computer program called eJay and grew from there.
I’ve had many shows, but the first one of any real importance was at San Francisco State’s venue, The Depot, and we fucking rocked that shit!
I would like to change the world as I know it.
I hope everyone doesn’t see color when it comes to people; only human beings.
From Murs to Slug, to Aesop Rock, Grouch, Eligh, Cannibal Ox, Scarub, PSC, The Pharcyde, Abstract Rude, Gift of Gab and Hieroglyphics on influencing my hip-hop shit. Now I’ll take it way, way back, before I even knew about all that… Paul Simon, Taylor James—I can’t even remember all the music influencing my earlier days—Simon & Garfunkel, lots of The Beatles, jazz, The Eagles, funk and old-school hits. You know—all that classic shit.
Hmm…no comment.
Our anticipated release of Various Aspects Volume I, and shortly after that Various Aspects Volume II.
